CO2e Compensation on Furniture Procurement

We can help you compensate for the CO2e consumption of your furniture procurement.

As part of our strategic work with UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 on sustainable consumption and production, we take responsibility for – and action on – reducing the amount of CO2e in the atmosphere.

To this end, we invite you to purchase trees through us as compensation for the CO2e emitted by the production of your furniture. Together with our customers and partners, we have already planted more than 40,000 trees in protected public forests, primarily in Denmark. Our goal is to plant 100,000 trees.

Five Trees Can Make a Huge Difference
You can purchase trees as compensation for the furniture you buy today, for the furniture you have already bought – and for the furniture you will buy in the future. Five trees absorb as much greenhouse gas as is generated by the manufacture of one work station comprising a desk, chair and storage unit*. Of course you can also compensate CO2e emissions for any type of furniture you purchase.

If you want to be sure that your company always compensates for the CO2e emissions of the furniture you and your colleagues purchase from us, we would be happy to draw up a partnership agreement to automate the tree-buying process for you.

You always receive documentation of your tree purchases for use in your company’s annual sustainability reporting.

Trees are important, because they contribute to:

  • A healthier environment
  • Compensation for CO2 emissions
  • Increased biodiversity
  • Cleaner groundwater
  • More recreational areas in natural surroundings
  • More protected public forests

We plant trees each spring and fall in new, protected community forests, primarily in Denmark – for the benefit of nature, the environment, the climate and people.

The Trees are Protected
Our expert partner, the Growing Trees Network Foundation, is responsible for planting the trees, typically oak, beech, bass and larch, but also fruit trees. For the first three years after planting the trees, the foundation provides the necessary care, and should a tree die, they plant a new one. After that, the trees are protected under the Danish Forest Act (Skovloven) by virtue of their status as a protected public forest.

*Every time furniture is produced for a new office work station, trees are taken from nature. According to the Growing Trees Network Foundation, a typical work station accounts for between 150 and 250 kg of CO2e. Professor Palle Madsen from the University of Copenhagen’s Forest and Landscape College calculates that it takes one and a half beech trees to neutralize 150 kg of CO2 over a 30-year period.
